Australian Open: Great Match of Nadal & Djokovic

I’ve been a fan of tennis way back in college. I took Lawn Tennis for my Physical Education subject. Though I am not an athlete type and couldn’t score in any game, I still pursue it. It’s fine with me, I gained knowledge about the game anyway. At ‘yon ang importante.

I am a big fan of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Nadal and Federer met at the Australian Open Semis for men this year but I wasn’t able to watch it. Just took time to read news and learned that Nadal defeated Federer. And now, Djokovic, who is World No. 1, faced Nadal for the championship. I watched the game. Buti live ‘yong game sa Star Sports. The game started at 5pm (Philippine Time) and ended at 11 pm. I wasn’t able to finish the game. I started to yawn and felt the need of sleeping halfway through the 3rd set. But my brother was able to finish the game. Buti pa s’ya.

Intense game between Rafe and Nole

The match between Nadal and Djokovic was really intense and I heard myself cheering for every Nadal’s score. You can see the eagerness of the two tennis players to win the title of Australian Open 2012 Champion. And oh man, you can really feel the intensity of the game! Parehong magaling at wala kang masabing pangit sa match nila.

But of course, even if the two tennis players are great with their craft, there can be only one champion. And Djokovic won again. Djokovic vs. Nadal respective scores: 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-7, 7-5.

Djokovic and Nadal

Though Nadal lost to Djokovic, I am still a Nadal fan. There’s still French Open and Wimbledon coming up. No hard feelings for this great match.

Lazy Saturday Play List

The Saturday feels like curling up in your bed and waste time thinking of nothing. Pero ako hindi. I usually work at home on Saturday, mga pending works ba. Pero okay lang. So when I work and go online, I see to it na may music ako to make my ears happy. Halo-halo, kaya minsan may isang genre lang or artist. Depende sa mood.

And today, I have a cloudy mind at iba iba ang iniisip. Kaya halo-halo ‘yong nasa play list ko. May Hipster, House/Electro Remixes, OPM, Rock at Love song.

So eto na:

No Strings Attached

Summary:

“Carla is a whiz at her job: she’s efficient, reliable, and a total genius when it comes to putting something together at the last-minute. The snag is she’s single and turning the big three-oh in a few months. Her girl best friend (yes, she’s married just like the other girls in Carla’s barkada) keeps trying to set her up with stable banker-types, while her guy best friend (single – the other single one) encourages her to play the field – no strings attached. Then, through no set up or extraordinary circumstance, Carla meets Dante. Hot, smug, sexy Dante. Definitely not a banker-type and seemingly too good to be true. So there’s got to be a catch. There is. He’s five years younger. Is the universe telling Carla to finally let loose and enjoy a fling with a younger man? Or is there a lot more to this awkward situation that she bargained for?”

This is just one of the books I received from exchanging gifts last Christmas at the office. The original plan was to ask for some back issues of FHM and Cosmopolitan Magazine but just realized that it wouldn’t worth the money. So I asked for some books published by Summit Media. High school ata ako when I became a fan of this publishing company. Maybe because the  stories they have are something you can relate to.

It took me three days to finish the book. Bagal ko na magbasa. I read in between work and personal stuff online. A typical story but I got hooked. Bakit? Kasi nakaka-relate ako sa bidang babae. Not that I’m dating  a younger guy or I’m turning 30 but the setup they created reminds me of my own drama.

Yes, I admit, at my age, I have a fair share sa mga no-serious-relationshits. Hindi naman marami, mga 3 siguro. You can always walk away from it kahit anong oras mo gustuhin o kung ayaw mo na. Pero kasi, ang problema nag-uumpisa ‘pag nagkaroon ng emotional investment ‘yong isa and will not be reciprocated. ‘Di naman maiiwasan ‘yon but at least dapat ready, diba? And to make it worst, you start to care, now that’s scary. Nakakasawa minsan.

Hindi ako magaling sa mga ganito but I am sharing a gist of this kind of setup. My own drama comprised of canceling a scheduled date kapag may lakad ako or sya. No talking of past relationship, past na nga ang katwiran and I agree with that one. Hindi rin naman napapag-usapan ang status ng sitwasyon, ang rule: just enjoy and go with it! We’ll see. I can’t remember if we agreed to go exclusive pero parang, “Are you going to see someone aside from me? Because I intend to see no one else but you.” And so I didn’t date anyone but him. Though bago n’ya sabihin ‘yan, I’ve already decided that sya lang muna kikitain ko because the guy is really interesting. Nakakabuhay ng dugo. ‘Yong conversation palaging hindi sugar-coated and I like it that way but minsan may assurances na hindi mo alam kung mangyayari and that includes sweet words. No expectations of anything. Be brave, ‘yan ang motto ko.

I’m sure na minsan nagho-hope din kahit paano. In between of thinking and breathing, you hope that everything will turn out fine. Ang key dito, LEARN TO ACCEPT kung matapos man.

I am not recommending this book kasi cliche. Read at your own risk na lang kung gusto n’yo.

As of this writing, I am happy about my life though may unfinished business and have no idea kung kelan matatapos or kung matatapos nga sya.

Foreign and Local Films for January

I’ve been watching films for the past few weeks. I like reading but films are dragging me to see them. May cable kami sa bahay since na sa elementary ako kaya nakahiligan naming manood ng pelikula. I even watched Jet Li’s old martial arts films. I consider myself as a film enthusiast and nag-full blown ang interes ko during college.

So far, eto ‘yong mga pelikulang napanood ko na for two weeks. Both local and foreign ito.

1. The Magdalene Sisters2002, Peter Mullan

An Irish Film that talks about the struggle of three women as an inmates of a Magdalene Sisters Asylum.

2. Pulp Fiction1994, Quentin Tarantino

An intertwined four stories of violence and redemption.

3. Requiem for A Dream2000, Darren Aronofsky

Four drug-induced individuals whose dreams are shattered because of their addiction.

4. The Dreamers2003, Bernardo Bertolucci

During the 1968 Paris students riot, a young American finally found friendship with a French brother and sister.

5. Itim1976, Mike De Leon

A suspense-drama film with paranormal themes, such as ghosts and spiritual possession.

6. Moral – 1982, Marilou Diaz-Abaya

The movie tells the story of 4 women during the height of youth activism before Martial Law. It depicts the changing morals of the period before the announcement and repression of Martial Law.

7. Happy Together1997, Wong Kar Wai

Story of Yiu-Fai and Po-Wing staying in Argentina.

First Saturday of 2012

Lazy Saturday. No traffic during mornings. Ang saya lang ‘pag ganun. Pero ‘wag ka, when I went home that day, nakasalubong ko traffic mula Japanese Embassy hanggang sa flyover papuntang Baclaran. Hindi ko alam ang cause. Basta ang traffic. Medyo nakakainis. Sabadong sabado may traffic. Daydream ba ‘yon? Hindi ko alam.

So anyway, eto lang naman ang mga bagay na napag-isipan ko during the Saturday afternoon traffic.

Not saying I don’t do anything at work, gusto ko lang dagdagan ‘yong kasipagan ko sa pagta-trabaho.

4. People Come and Go – Minsan naiisip ko na ‘wag masyadong magi-invest ng feelings or emotions sa tao. Kasi sa huli, aalis din ‘yan. I’m not talking about lovers, boyfriends or girlfriends, I’m talking about everyone. Hahahaha.

5. Green and White – Kaya ‘kong sakyan ang mga green jokes, mga double meaning na phrases or sentences or ready akong makipag-usap about sex. Bwahahahaha! Sa kabila ng lahat ng ‘yan, there’s a fine line between conservative and being an open-minded.

6. Savings – Gusto ko doblehin ang ipon for the family. Syempre, para sa future needs ‘to at kailangan talagang maging priority.

Hahabaan ko pa ang pasensya ko and learn not to give up on anything unless HINDI SYA IMPORTANTE SAKIN.

Halo-halo.
